GWAA members,
It’s with great sadness that I pass along news that Marino Parascenzo, a past GWAA president, a longtime GWAA member and a PGA of America Lifetime Achievement Award winner, died Sunday. He was 95.
Marino was a golf writer and editor with decades of experience covering the game at every level. He was also a mentor for many and was always quick to encourage a colleague and offer advice.
Marino was a dedicated member of the GWAA who began his journalism career at the Ellwood City [Pa.] Ledger and the New Castle News before retiring from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 1999.
Marino will be missed deeply. As GWAA member Gerry Dulac said on X, Parascenzo was “a gifted and unmatched golf writer. A guiding light to all who wanted to turn a phrase.”
I encourage you to keep Marino’s family in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
Rex Hoggard
GWAA President
